Target’s Project 62 Want List

Project 62 is out! It finally released on Saturday. I plan to turn my dining room into a parlor/sitting room to do work from home, blog work, and reselling work. Yes that’s alot of work.

I wanted something bold and sexy to sit in and for my boyfriend to take impromptu pictures of me when I don’t even notice. This will be my room for me and by me.

Here is my Want List.

Soriano Square Arm Channel Tufted Chair Navy Velvet – Project 62™

When I thought I was going to dress this room up in pretty blush, I was wrong. This velvet chair as soon as you walk in my house will be a conversation piece. The best part is it is only priced at $250.

Geneva Glass Floor Lamp Triple Globe – Brass – Project 62™

I wasn’t sure if I was going to do a desk lamp or not. This floor lamp with the triple globe will be going next to my desk. We will be allowed work from home starting in October so I will need it.

Antwerp Desk Walnut – Project 62™

Hey walnut desk! I will be setting this up for work from home, blogging, reselling, etc. Anything else I need to work on. I will propped here. Netflix will be up on the Surface too. And no I’m not an Apple girl.

68″ Antwerp Bookcase with Storage Walnut – Project 62™

You have to have a bookcase. So I should probably get books to put on it. I am not much of a book reader. I am technically driven so if it isn’t product related with Microsoft, Google, etc. I probably won’t know about it.

Manila Hammered Barrel Coffee Table – Brass – Project 62™

This table is just everything. I didn’t want the traditional rectangle or square. I won’t be using end tables as the space is not that big.

Madrot Multi-Globe Glass Ceiling Light (Includes CFL Bulb) – Brass – Project 62™

The chandelier in the room currently is ugly and atrocious. I want it out. I will be replacing it with the Globe Glass Ceiling Light. Another conversation piece will be happening when people come in.

All this costs less than $2000. I’m not broke, but I am cheap.

Do you have items you want from the Project 62? And do you want to see the before and after of my parlor in a later blog post?

Nashville Was Lit: A Travel Guide

A couple of weekends ago I hit up Nashville to visit the family. It was my 2nd time going and it was everything I needed to be. Now I did make the 6 hour drive from North Carolina to get there. My anxiety and those mountains definitely hate me triggered due to too many car accidents. Once we got there, we went directly to bed. My cousin had just gotten into his new home and it was gorgeous. Here is my little travel guide of where to go in Nashville.

Big Al’s Deli In Nashville, TN

The first thing we did is have breakfast at Big Al’s Deli.  Man oh man. That food is to die for. It is really so good you will slap your momma. I literally wouldn’t mind eating this on my death-bed. I had the Shrimp & Grits. It was far beyond delicious. Now Big Al’s is not stingy with their food. I got a big ol’ bowl. The shrimp were large and I was happy. I caught the itis and a nap was necessary.

Southern Carolinian Shrimp & Grits

After that bomb breakfast, I wanted to get a picture at some of the murals in Nashville. Now there are about 18 murals and I made it to 2 of them. Those 2 were good enough for a photo opp with me in it.

What Lifts You Mural

The angel wings were in the Gulch. It is a popping area where all the milennials are. There is always a line of people trying to take a photo opp. So be aggressive.

I Believe In Nashville

We drove over to the I Believe In Nashville mural. It is in a little alley way in 12 South. It had been recently vandalized in July, but it is back. Hey photo opp.

Shopping in Nashville is a must. You do need to head to the suburbs in Brentwood, a rich area. All I needed was Nordstrom Rack and a TJMaxx. They delivered what I wanted. I got to pairs of shoes on sale and a dress form from TJMaxx that I need for Poshmark. You can always hit the shops in the downtown Nashville as well. They have a Goorin Bros Hat Shop and you must stop in there. Employees are great and you can try on all the hats to your hearts desire. One of the places I did not get to was United Apparel Liquidators or UAL. It is a thrift store for designer brands. I had left the nail salon and didn’t notice it was across the street. Check out their online store here though.

We also stopped down by Centennial Park for a quick flick. The park is a large urban park located west of downtown Nashville and near Vanderbilt University. It was a beautiful day to get out there and look around. They have little ponds for finish, walking paths, plenty of trees and benches. There was even a couple laying in a hammock listening to music. The park also has a full size replica of the Parthenon in Athens which was built in 1897. It is a full size museum to the public. We didn’t go in, but I will make that on my to do list for next time we go.

Honorable mention to Local Taco for the UberEats dinner. I woke up the next morning still thinking about it.

Let’s skip to Saturday because that’s where the fun happened. We hit Wine on the River Nashville on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge in downtown.

Wine On The River Nashville

Now I will tell this much I didn’t get many photos because I was trying to stay sober. I’ll better about that in my future travels. But it was good times. They not only had wine but they had the finest Bourbons and Whiskeys. I love how smooth it goes. Grown women drink whiskey.

Shotgun Red Wine

The best wine goes to Shotgun Red. If you make communion Sunday, then this is it. This is the communion wine you have to have. This is wine that Jesus made. I went back like 3 times because it is amazing and delicious. It can get you drunk if you don’t pace itself.

I was feeling it

One thing was there was not enough food vendors in my opinion. Del Frisco’s were selling steak sandwiches and Tom and Chee were making grilled cheese. I had both because I needed something to soak up all the wine and liquor I was drinking.

More food was in order so we ubered to Little Donkey Mexican Restaurant which is a local restaurant. I engaged in a chicken burrito bowl. It was delicious. It was not crowded at all. I definitely recommend it.

*brief intermission for that nap I took after all that drinking*

The last activity of the weekend was hopping into nightlife. I had no idea where we were going but when we got there. YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Uber EVERYWHWERE over to The Back Corner. Y’all!!! This is a definitely local spot and not in a busy area. You walked up. They check your id and you go in. No cover and no bouncers patting you down. You walk in and the bar is immediately in front of you. That is a great move for the owner because you immediately think drinks. I got a coke because I wasn’t quite together yet. The vibe was dope. They have plenty of seats. I am thinking you have to pay for like a table. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO THOSE SEATS ARE FOR EVERYONE. So we got in free and you get to sit on couches and chaises. DJ played the TOP 40 which included Cardi B.’s “Bodak Yellow”. I was pleased with the whole place.

Overall, my trip to Nashville was great. I will be returning again.

Have you ever been? Tell me about your trip to Nashville.

And would you like to see more posts about my travelling?

Ingenuity with Followers

It has happened to all of us when we first begin blogging. It is happening to someone right now. It is happening to me.

I am a victim of ingenuity with followers. That’s when you post your item for exposure on Twitter or Instagram. You plenty of likes and follows due to hashtags. You follow those people back. And soon as you follow back, they unfollow you. It was all a scheme to get their followers up.

Guess what? They are dicks. Yes that is really how I feel. Okay sure they saw my content, but they are never coming back again to see the new things I post. It may be something they like. It has really become my pet peeve as I start this blogging life. Why do people do it? I really have no idea, but I keep in mind who has done that. I will not engage with their material at all. Now I understand following people who are apart of your niche I guess but…..

If you are a culprit, I hope you see this. If you are only engaging for follows and likes and then hitting unfollow……

Just a quick thought.

Booties Because Fall Is Coming

Fall is swinging back around and it is time to order those new booties. If you are wondering about clothes, checking out Key Staples for Fall 2017 (link).

Now back to the booties.

Sam Edelman Women’s Petty Ankle Boot

I love Sam Edelman. This bootie is absolutely adorable. It is leather with dyed calf fur around the top. It has a western-inspired feel.

Breckelles Heather-34 Faux Suede Chunky Heel Ankle Boot

This bootie is an inexpensive version making it less than $25 in my size. I love the wine color which can stand out if you wear all black outfits. This also has a tapered block heel.

Steve Madden Wagner Ankle Boot

That sexy black ankle boot that is always a must have. With this 4.5 inch heel, you will kill the game. This is definitely on my list to purchse. But I am going to wait to a coupon code drops on the Steve Madden site.

Boohoo Lisa Pointed Toe Western Boot

This is another western style boot by Boohoo. For me, those buckles are popping. Now I am not saying I’m a cowgirl but I could be for the day. This can be paired with skinny jean and camel sweater. Boohoo always has some type of sale going on. For now they are doing 50% everything including sale. You can get these boots for only $30.

Schutz Naiely Block Heel Spandex Bootie

These is bloody shoes. Oh this bootie is to dieeeeeeeeeeeeeee for me. Blood red gorgeous block heel bootie that in my opinion will have your feet standing out. Now the price is steep. But if you can invest, get them.

If you need help looking for a bootie, you can always email me via the contact page. Also, what topics would you love to see on the blog? As I am ramping up, I want to cater to my readers.

Key Staples For Fall 2017

Fall is coming. Even in NC, the weather is cooling. You can never have too many stylish staples for the upcoming season.

  1. Sweater dresses give my figure life. I already have quick a few of these dresses in my closet, but this is an easy throw on for a night out or day hanging out in the city.

Zara Ribbed Sweater Dress with High Collar

2. Off the shoulder sweaters make you feel sexy. Now it is getting cool out but you have to be fione. Sweaters aren’t always the sexiest thing. This sweater from MissGuided trumps that. And I am in love with the mustard yellow color.

3. Backpacks are more conventional to carry. Those two shoulder straps are great and they are out of the way. I have broken wrist syndrome when I carry a purse so I am more into backpacks. These dazzling bag from Steve Madden is trendy and chic.

Steve Madden Breggie Backpack – $178

4.Over the knee boots swill  never go out of style. Don’t argue with me because you will be wrong. These Jeffrey Campbell Gamora Thigh High Boots are to die for.

Vince Camuto Louise et Cie Vernon Over the Knee Boot – $248

5.  Graphic tees are always  a go. This Girl Power T-shirt from Forever 21 can always be a staple in your wardrobe.

I’m just giving you an idea of what’s popping right now. Let me know what you are adding to your wardrobe this fall.

Eff Them Blogging Rules

Before I started blogging, I wanted to know everything there is a blogging and being a blogger. From Google, Facebook to other blogs, I was soaking up what it is that I thought I needed to know.

Find Your Niche, Or Not

The one common thing I saw was “find your niche” and only blog about that. They said nobody wants to read a blog that is all over the place full of random topics. The lie detector determine that was a lie. I do not mind random thoughts. That makes a person far more interesting.

I want to be interesting enough to read and not so boring with the same revolving topics every month. My mindset is to have a theme each month and switch it up. One month is fashion and the next month is beauty then incorporate those two for third in lifestyle. Mix it up somehow and make it lit.

I said all that to say I am not following the standard blogging rules. I am going to do what is for me and what is works for me. Fellow bloggers should do the same if that is their thing.

Post A Lot

It was also said that you need to post a lot, preferably 3 or 4 times a week. I can disagree here. I read blogs where they only post once a week and they still have my attention. Some people have full time blogs. I know how to bear with them and be patient.

To combat, that have awesome topics for that once a week to engage your readers. One of my favorite blogs post twice a week and when I tell you her topics are super popping. I always screaming at the screen … Bishhhhhhh what? My attention is grabbed, and I know I relate.

Must Have 1,000 words

I am not in college and I am not writing you a long-term paper. I will lose interest and I just do not want to read all of that. I am a get to point type of person. What is the meat of this post. What are you talking about?

A post can be good with minimal amount of words. Sometimes someone is stopping by to see what you are about, and you want to capture them immediately.

Now I am not saying that this works for everyone. But I scroll posts often all the time, 30 seconds and I am out. Also, says the woman who probably just wrote a 1,000-word posts. And no, I did not check.

The Launch

Ayo! Over here.

You are probably like why is this woman starting out her first post all ratchet. I am from Baltimore and that is how you get anyone’s attention. I could have said “yurp” and you would have closed this window.

I am Shana, your resident blogger.  I’m Baltimore bred and Carolina fed. If you stumbled over here and started reading, I am doing something right.

Now what is this blog about? Life, living and the pursuit of happiness (I am lying). It’s a blog where I can relax, relate, and release. I always like putting my thoughts out there for other people to chime in on. . I have outgrown Twitter, member since 2009. Nobody is paying me any mind unless it is people who know me at this point. Tumblr is just not it in 2017. Facebook is for the family, friends and coworkers. I decided why not just create something for me, by me, and strangers.

First thing’s first, I’m the realest. Seriously I am not here to tell you how to live your life in any certain type of way. GET IT HOW YOU LIVE, Beloved. I want to share my life experiences with you, all of the things.

Second, I am black. Let’s remember this part because social and political issues are in the media right now. You have to know my identity and how I identify.

Third, this is a lifestyle blog of the most random kind. I will talk about fashion, lifehacks, home, relationships, etc.

Lastly, comment and share your thoughts. I am not going to be one of those blogs where you don’t hear from me. We will chat.

Hope you stop by often!
